frequently asked questions
How do I join the Toronto Tamagotchi Club?
Just come! There's no fee or registration required for membership. If you've attended at least once, you can message us to be added to our members-only groupchat. In the meantime, give us a follow on our social media for updates.
Where do I get a Tamagotchi?
- For 1990s "vintage era" Tamagotchis, you can purchase reissues at Walmart, Toys R Us, Amazon, Urban Outfitters, Mastermind, and other toy stores.
- 2000s "connection era" Tamagotchis have just been reissued and are available on Amazon and at Gamestop. Vintage Tamagotchi Connections can be found on eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and on the Buy and Sell channel of our Discord. (If you remember "making friends" on the Tamagotchi, these are the ones you grew up playing!)
- Of the 2010s "colour era" Tamagotchis, some are in production, some are not. The newest model, Tamagotchi Uni, was released in 2023 and is currently sold at GameStop and on Amazon.
- Sometimes collectors will sell their old Tamagotchis at our meetups or on our Discord.
- Please note that this advice only describes buying Tamagotchis in Canada.
- If you are wondering which Tamagotchi to buy, check out the comparison guides on our Resources page.
Do I need a Tamagotchi to join?
No Tamagotchi required! We welcome the Tamagotchi-curious.
Is this club for kids or adults?
Our membership is almost all nostalgic adults. However, all ages are welcome.
What do you do at meetups?
Like any fan meetup, most of our time together involves hanging out, talking about Tamagotchi, and connecting devices. We often have optional side activities, like making friendship bracelets, doodling in our guestbook, and eating snacks. We are not an overly structured group, and visitors are welcome to come and go throughout the meetup.
Is this club neurodivergent / introvert / queer / trans / ESL friendly?
The Toronto Tamagotchi Club aims to be a space where people can truly be themselves. Many of us are several of the above. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and non-judgmental community that embraces the diversity of people that make up Toronto. We encourage you to give our meetups a try and see for yourself!
Can I bring another virtual pet?
Of course!
Where do you meet?
Our venue changes meetup to meetup, but we always try to meet downtown in venues that are transit-accessible and free. We don't meet in cafes, restaurants, or other places you're expected to pay to hang out. We also try to meet in places that are mobility device accessible as much as possible. If you have a venue in mind or space to offer, contact us.
How often do you meet?
Currently we meet every other month or so.
Are there other Tamagotchi clubs?
YES! Check out our page on other chapters. If you host a Tamagotchi club, let us know so we can promote you. If there's no Tamagotchi club in your area, why not start one?
How do I start a club in my city?
We have a guide on this very subject! Feel free to contact us for advice. We would love to boost your meetups on our social media.

Are you affiliated with / funded by Bandai?
Toronto Tamagotchi is an independent fan club, and we have no budget or funding sources. All activites and opinions expressed are our own, and are not reflective of Bandai Namco Entertainment or the creators of Tamagotchi. That said, we are pleased to report that Bandai has a positive relationship with the Tamagotchi clubs. Thanks Bandai!
